What is SERMI and why does it apply to my business?
SERMI is the EU/UK scheme that authorises independent operators — including auto locksmiths — to access vehicle security data (immobiliser keys, key codes, anti-theft systems) lawfully. To operate under SERMI, you have to keep an audit record of every job that touches vehicle security data: who the customer was, what they showed for ID, the vehicle’s V5 logbook, and a signature. Records must be retained for 5 years. TeamDispatch handles the capture, storage, and export.
Is TeamDispatch SERMI-certified, or just SERMI-compliant?
TeamDispatch is built to capture and retain the audit record SERMI requires, in the format SERMI auditors expect. Certification is granted to operators (your business), not to apps. We give you the audit-record infrastructure; your SERMI scheme certification is between you and your scheme assessor. The PDFs we export are accepted as evidence at SERMI audits.
Does the SERMI audit record count alone, or do I still need paper backup?
The PDF export of a SERMI record contains everything an auditor asks for: V5, customer ID, signature, job details, retention metadata. We don’t recommend running paper backup — the digital record IS the audit record. The bulk-export feature on the web app exports every SERMI record across the company in one ZIP, useful at audit time.
What happens at the 5-year retention deadline?
Nothing automatic happens at 5 years — the SERMI record stays in the system, just like every other completed job. You can manually delete the job once the deadline passes if you want to clear old records. Before the deadline, deletion is blocked at the server side as a safety net.
Does the £36/month cover SERMI?
Yes. SERMI capture, retention, and PDF export are all in the standard £36/month plan. There’s no SERMI add-on, no per-record charge, no separate compliance tier.
